Understanding your information

What a Lab Report Can and Cannot Tell You

A lab report can:

  • Show where results fall within laboratory reference ranges.
  • Highlight results or areas that may need attention.
  • Help you understand whether certain measured levels are high, low, or within range.
  • Help you research and better understand factors that may affect measured levels.
  • Help track changes in the same tests over time.
  • Help you prepare informed questions for your healthcare provider.
  • Allow you to use the AI assistant to better understand the language, values, and organization of the report.

A lab report cannot:

  • Diagnose a medical condition by itself.
  • Replace advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a licensed healthcare professional.
  • Replace emergency medical services.

For informational use only. Your report and the AI assistant can help you understand the information presented, but they are not substitutes for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you believe you may have a medical emergency, contact emergency services immediately.
